9:00 AMW-7: 2011 "Best Practices" for Contract Sweepers

3 Hour Workshop

The talk of the sweeping sessions at NPE since 2006 has been this unique workshop, based on the "roundtable" concept. You will begin by selecting one of the topics below. Topics will be divided into small "roundtable" groups that will discuss, analyze, exchange successful efforts, and determine one or more "action steps" any sweeping contract can take. Halfway through the program attendees will select a second topic and switch tables. Each group will be directed by a facilitator, who is both an experienced sweeping contractor and a specialist in the topic. Once all groups have had an opportunity to analyze and evaluate various ideas and courses of action for their topic, a representative from each topic will report its results and suggestions to the whole group. Where else can you learn how to handle 6 different issues facing the sweeping contractor but in this unique NAPSA/NPE workshop! This year's new topics will be:
  • Using Social Networking to Increase Sales
  • Developing the Next Generation in Your Business
  • How Networking Through Associations Can Increase Your Sales
  • Best Hiring Practices for Contract Sweepers
  • Maximizing GPS in Your Business
  • Key Measurements To Use in Your Street Sweeping Business
This is a great opportunity to learn how to confront 6 different issues contract sweepers face every day. So come and contribute your ideas - and take home information you can put to use the first day back. Additional time will be available for questions and an even further exchange of ideas.

Guy Gruenberg, Grow Consulting
Jeff Stokes, Next Level Contractor System

3 Hour Workshop

What does your company's future look like? Isn't it time you take control of your company's destiny and work on predicting where you fit in your marketplace and controlling your future profitability? In this mini-strategic planning workshop two of NPE's highest-rated consultants with extensive experience in the pavement maintenance industry will guide you as you develop the basics of a strategic plan for your business. Using sample planning documents from a fictitious paving and pavement maintenance contractor you will learn the essential elements every effective business plan must have:
  • SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Market Segmentation Analysis
  • Value, Mission & Vision Statements
Then, using the sample documents as templates you will break into small guided groups and begin to develop these elements for your own company. As you develop these elements you'll identify the one or two greatest opportunities for your company, then Guy and Jeff will show you how to develop and implement an "action plan" - using the SWOT results and action plan of the fictitious company -- to take advantage of those opportunities.

Contractors will leave this hands-on workshop understanding the structure of a strategic business plan, with the basics of their own plan down on paper, and will take home a proven process to put the plan into action. This is a great workshop for owners and upper-level managers -- and its the perfect opportunity to bring several members of your company and engage them in your future successes. So bring your pens, your business acumen, a willingness to exchange ideas - and be ready to get down to work!
